After The Rain; the rhythm of life and a call to intention

Be very careful, then, how you live, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. -Ephesians 5:15–16

Y’all, I have to share how my morning went today. Honestly, it started like most of my mornings do, nothing out of the ordinary. Coffee first (always), getting ready for work, warming up the car, and heading out the door.

It was routine. Predictable. One of those mornings where you’re moving on autopilot, already thinking about the day ahead.

But between walking from my back door to the door of my car, the ordinary cracked opened and what started as just another morning turned into something worth paying attention to.

It had rained the night before, but honestly, I didn’t remember that little detail until I opened my back door and my hair went from zero to ninety on the frizz radar. LOL. That’s when I knew: yep, it rained. ughhhhh. Thank goodness I have the hair tie on my wrist because, yep you guessed it, up the hair goes! Anyway, back to what was worth sharing with y'all. As I approached my car, I noticed sooooo many earthworms under our carport. I mean this is an unusual sight because earthworms are typically found in the EARTH. They are usually hidden in the Earth, blindly working to Loosen compacted soil, improve air and water flow and helping roots grow deeper and stronger. They don't seek our praise or acceptance, they have their purpose and they do what they were created to do. Except for this morning, I am guessing with the rain the earthworm floats up to avoid suffocation.

Well, my heart was broken for what I was seeing. There were earthworms who were barley moving, trying to find their way back to the ground. There were some earthworms that were shriveled up because they couldn't find their way. Just as I thought this sight could not get any worse, I looked under my husband's truck and there was the prettiest little bird sitting there and tweeting. What I did not realize is that he was feasting on the words that had been displaced. YALL, The tragedy unfolding before me was impossible to ignore. I shooed the bird away and started picking up the little worms who still had fight in them and placed them in the grass. One by one I would place them where they were on dry land but hidden by blades of grass so the birds would not see them. Having felt somewhat better, I got in my car and started down the road to work. Little did I know, God was reveling something to me.

Life can get tough, and the high waters of difficult situations can carry us into unfamiliar territory. Spiritually speaking, this is what happens when life forces us off the path of our purpose, when we find ourselves surrounded by concrete instead of fertile soil. This is a very scary place to be because you are not where GOD purposed you to be. You are not covered by His Grace and not strengthened by His anointing. Just like the earthworm, which was not covered by soil or strengthened by its natural environment, we too can feel vulnerable and exposed when we are out of the place God intended for us.  In these unfavorable situations, the enemy often waits, ready to take advantage of our weakness and vulnerability, trying to keep us from returning to our purpose.

BUT....as Christians we have a duty to our brothers and sisters!!!!! Let me say this even LOUDER!!!!! WE have a responsibility to our family, friends, brothers and sisters.......

James 5:19–20 My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back. This is what the WORD of GOD tasks us to do!! Proverbs 24:11–12-Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins; Proverbs 24:11 Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter. Live life intentionality, we can get so caught up in our own agendas that we don't see a hurting world around us. But we need to have the eyes of God! If we see someone struggling, going down a path of destruction, displaced from where GOD has purposed them to be, pick them up and show them the LOVE of GOD.

I want to challenge you tonight. Stop living life only for yourself, never seeing past the end of your own nose. Be intentional about the people God places in your path. Check in on your friends. Make sure they’re not quietly struggling or drifting from the purpose God has for them. When you meet people in stores, restaurants, or at work, keep your eyes open. Pray that God would open your spiritual eyes and quiet your heart so you can hear what He is saying. There is a dying world all around us, hurting, lost, and unseen. Let us be the hands and feet of Jesus, willing to pause, reach out, and show the love of God wherever we are.

♥Love You♥God Bless♥
