Crock Pot Gratitude

Have you ever taken something for granted for a long time and then, BAM, in a second you realize how important that this is? Well, that moment hit me tonight. My family and I had one of those nonstop days, work, volleyball tryouts and church. But it didn't stop there, my best friend and I, along with our kids capped off the day with a slow cruise around town, gawking at Christmas lights like tourists in our own home. My husband had to turn in early, shift work will do that. His alarm goes off at the exact time most of us are just sinking into our deepest stretch of REM sleep. I appreciate that man more than he will ever probably know. I love you baby ♥

Oh, back to my day...I forgot to mention that on our way back home, my daughter and I suddenly remembered we still had to feed the chickens and rabbits. It might not sound like much to some people, but when you’re tired and ready to head straight inside, those last-minute outdoor chores can hit you right where it hurts. Here is where it gets good. When we are walking up the steps to the back porch with bodies full of exhaustion but hearts full of gratitude, love and joy, it hits me!!! The smell of a roast that has been cooking in the crock pot since lunch time. Yall, all at once this overwhelming sense of peace came over me. I knew we could have a hot meal before bed, without dirtying a ton of dishes. My hubby would have a good lunch to bring to work tomorrow and best of all it took me ZERO efforts to prepare and cook it.

Don't get me wrong, this was not my first crock pot meal and certainly not my first roast crockpot meal. However, something that can seem so common and so easily taken for granted turned into being just what I needed. Moments like this remind me how often we overlook the quiet blessings God tucks into our everyday lives. We rush from one thing to the next, barely noticing the simple gifts, warm meals, safe homes, the people who love us, even the chores that mean we have responsibilities worth caring for. But every now and then, He taps us on the shoulder and gently opens our eyes to the abundance we’re standing in. Tonight, that reminder came in the form of a humble crockpot roast, filling my home and my heart with a peace I didn’t even realize I needed.

I would love to hear your story. Please share it with me in the comment section below, I can't wait to read them.

Love you ♥God Bless♥
