The Prayer Bridge

1 Timothy 2:5 , For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.”

Twenty years ago, I met my sweet husband. We dated for three years before saying “I do,” and now, seventeen years later, I still marvel at this journey we’ve walked together. Full transparency I re-dedicated my life to God 10 years into our marriage. That means we spent nearly a decade navigating marriage without the intentional anchor of faith I now cling to daily. I share this not to shame or dwell on the past, but because God’s grace in our story is powerful, real, and transformative. Let me just tell you mine and my husband's story is still a testimony in the making. God is continuing to draw us close to Him and is doing things for HIS GLORY that leave me in awe♥

Girlfriend, let me be real with you. Before I started seeing our marriage through the eyes of God, there were times I was selfish and unkind. There were many moments when I didn’t reflect to my husband what a Godly wife is called to be. When I re-dedicated my life to GOD in 2018, I was doing my best to be a good wife and mom. I was going to church, praying, reading my bible, tithing and serving the body of Christ. Of course, I was praying for my husband and praying for things to shift for him the way things had shifted for me, but the funny thing about praying for your spouse and your marriage is that God has a way of using it to show you the areas in your own heart that need work. 👀 😲 strange right? LOL Yep, well it's true! I was as surprised as you. 👀 😲 God started revealing to me gently (and sometimes firmly) areas and ways I needed growth, patience, or extra grace. 🎤💥

Prayer doesn’t just transform your marriage; it transforms you too, shaping you into the spouse God wants you to be. THANK YOU, JESUS, FOR THIS!! I am sharing this with you as a friend and sister. If you are not married, hold on to this and remember it for when the day comes and your "I DO" is song like an angelic chorus. Always keep PRAYER as a PILLAR in your marriage. As wives, we need to continually strive to cultivate a covenant with our husbands that not only glorifies Christ but also honors our husbands and our marriage. As friends, we are called to encourage one another, share honestly, and point each other to Jesus, the firm foundation on which a strong, unshakable marriage is built. When Christ is at the center, our marriages are strengthened, our hearts are aligned, and our love becomes a reflection of His grace.

I feel it heavy on my heart to lift up everyone’s marriages tonight, and I would love for you to join me in prayer. Take a moment to place your name and your husband’s name into this prayer, making it personal and intentional.

If you are in the season of waiting on your Boaz, working the field, seeking God’s timing, pray for him too. You may not know who he is yet, but God does, and He is faithful to bring His plan to pass in His perfect timing. Let’s come together in faith, trusting that God hears us, strengthens marriages, and works all things for His glory.

Father in the precious name of Jesus,

I lift up my marriage to You today. I pray for myself and my husband, asking You to strengthen our love, deepen our commitment, and help us honor You in all that we do. Help us to be patient, kind, and slow to anger, reflecting Your love in every word and action (1 Corinthians 13:4-7). Lord, guide our hearts and minds so that we may always choose each other daily, esteeming one another above ourselves (Philippians 2:3-4). In moments of disagreement, help us to be slow to speak, quick to listen, and allow Your Holy Spirit to guide our words. I plead the blood of Jesus over us and our homes. Lord, we choose You first as the center of our lives and home.

I pray for my husband as he is called to be the head of our family as he leads us with grace, strength and wisdom. Lord, guide his heart and mind, help him to lead with humility, integrity, and a servant’s heart, reflecting Your love in every decision he makes. May he be courageous in his faith, steadfast in his commitments, and always seek Your guidance as he shepherds our family. Father, I thank You for my husband and for the ways he leads our family. Continue to teach me how to walk as a good helpmate for him, honoring and supporting him while following the example You have set for marriage. Guide my words, actions, and heart so that I may encourage him, build him up, and reflect Your love in our relationship. I pray this all in Jesus' name, Amen.
